It's a hamlet of around 50 houses, flanked by a typical fishing port. It's here that you can buy cockles and molluscs, fished from the sand inside the lagoons. The most beautiful beaches on the islands can be found on either side of Pointe-aux-Loups. The Dune du Nord, a long stretch of sand between the sea and the Grande Entrée lagoon, links it to Grosse Île. Before taking a dip, beware of the wind and currents. And remember, the water here is not particularly warm... Also worth a visit: La Maison du Héron art gallery (on Route 199, open in summer).
