5,873 inhabitants. Perched at an altitude of 300 metres, the small village of Súria preserves the timeless atmosphere of a medieval city whose charms are magically reflected in the waters of the Cardener. From its natural promontory, crowned by the castle and the church, the village spreads its labyrinth of narrow streets punctuated by porches and stone arches. There is no better setting to perpetuate one of the most beautiful medieval fairs in the region. Every Sunday at Easter for more than 400 years, the village is also home to some of the most important Caramelles in Catalonia. In this part of the Eocene basin, the complex geology of Súria and the geological treasures scattered throughout its territory are also closely linked to the history of its mining operations, from the first salt mines discovered in 1185 to the more recent exploitation of potash mines at the beginning of the 20th century. An itinerary starting from the tourist office and signposted with explanatory panels allows you to learn more about the geological history of the region and the importance of the Migmón anticline fold, one of the most fascinating geological formations in the Geopark.
