5,950 inhabitants. This peaceful village located on the eastern borders of the Pla de Bages is bounded to the west by a meander of the Llobregat River and crossed to the north by one of its powerful tributaries: the Calders River. In addition to agriculture, vine growing developed from the 18th century until the decline of viticulture caused by the Phylloxera crisis and precipitated by the industrialisation of the Llobregat basin. The village is now dominated by its elegant bell tower, which was added to the church in the 17th century and which will not be missed if you pass through the area (beautiful view and explanatory video on the Geopark!). It enjoys a notable proximity to the monastery of Saint Benet, historically linked to Navarcles since feudal times. The first week of April, the Fira de l'Abat celebrates this secular relationship.
