5 km north of Porto Santo, we will go to the small town of Camacha to have a look at its private ethnographic museum. To the west of Camacha, the Vereda da Fonte da Areia with its limestone cliffs sculpted by wind erosion is a walk not to be missed. Even further west, the Vereda Pico Branco e Terra Chã (PR 1), part of the Natura 2000 Network, is a delight with its myriad endemic species and beautiful ocean views. It follows the old mule tracks once trodden by farmers (easy, 6 km, 3 hours return). This is probably the most beautiful walk to do in Porto Santo (be sure to bring enough water!).
