Rabaçal is radically different: this little natural Eden is always spring green. This is where you have to go for the 25 Fountains hike, one of the most popular on the island. Park at the Rabaçal car park. Then use your feet or take the shuttle bus in season (2 km). Make a stop at the Risco waterfall (20 min) which flows into a gorge. Then follow the levada das 25 Fontes. Count 3 hours return along a laughing levada. No difficulty, except at certain passages where the levada is narrow and sometimes slippery. An enchanting site. Lovers of solitary paths will therefore consider going there very early.
