With its 1,818 meters of altitude, it is the third highest peak in Madeira, after Pico Ruivo and Pico das Torres. You are in the heart of the island, where the volcanic eruptions were unleashed to offer you these beautiful landscapes. One of the most emblematic hikes of the island, connecting Pico do Arieiro to Pico Ruivo, starts from the lookout of Pico do Arieiro. The path is difficult. The less athletic (or motivated!) can take their car and leave at dawn to see the day rising on this breathtaking site. However, make sure to check the weather forecast because when the fog comes, there is nothing left to see!
