Pella is a picturesque little town on Lake Orta, with a population of around 1,000. It is famous for its pretty 16th-century bridge over a stream, as well as its two churches from the same period, San Giovanni Batista and Sant'Albino. The latter, dating from 1516, stands in the heart of the village and houses paintings and frescoes. In the main square, you'll find the old wash-house where women used to wash their clothes. From the lakeside, you can enjoy a beautiful view of San Guilio Island. Above all, the village is very close to the famous Madonna del Sasso sanctuary, one of the region's must-sees.
