This small village is perched spectacularly on a 50 m-high, kilometre-long basalt cliff, at the foot of which flows the Fluvià river. Its narrow, picturesque streets lead to the ancient church of Sant Salvador, enthroned at the tip of the mound, from where you can enjoy a superb view of the region. Castellfollit is also one of the gateways to the Volcanic Zone Natural Park and an excellent first stop for visiting La Garrotxa, just off the freeway. In addition to the church, there's the Clock Tower and, at the foot of the cliff, the remains of the ancient via romana.
