Dearborn's history is mainly marked by the creation of the Ford River Rouge factory by Henry Ford. Starting from nothing, he laid the foundations of an empire in 1903 and the company's headquarters are still there. Dearborn is also home to the Ford Development Center (which can be visited) and, right next door, The Henry Ford. This huge museum complex is absolutely worth a visit, especially since it also includes Greenwich Village, an open-air site featuring reconstructions of famous buildings and properties from American history. Finally, Dearborn is known for its many shops with Middle Eastern flavours.
