Like many communities along Route 66, Pontiac seems frozen in time. The town is home to the Hall of Fame Route 66 Museum, which is the headquarters of the Illinois Route 66 Association. Also worth seeing are the beautiful murals, including the mythical one representing the route of Route 66, in homage to Bob Waldmire, who was a legendary figure of Route 66. The old yellow school bus that he had specially fitted out to live in and travel on The Mother Road is at the back of the Hall of Fame Route 66. Don't miss the Livingston County War Museum and the Pontiac-Oakland Automobile Museum.
