This small town of 3,700 inhabitants was famous in the 19th and early 20th centuries as a spa resort (in operation since 1804). But in 1969, the discovery, 1.5 km from the village centre, of the Ekain cave changed the tourist orientation of the village. However, take advantage of the stopover at the cave to take a short hop to the central square. The church and the Plaça Cuadrada are well worth a small detour. After a stop in front of the Portalekoa, Lizenziadokua and Arretxe houses, on your way to the medieval palace of Lili and the cave, linger on the old stones of the very photogenic Zubiaurre Bridge.
