Nestled in the upper Nervia valley at 900 m above sea level amidst huge olive trees, pine forests and chestnut trees, Bajardo is a true village overlooking a multitude of surrounding valleys. It was a strategic point for communication routes across the valley. The breathtaking view is the reason why this village is called "the terrace on the Alps". The origin of the name of this charming village dates back to the era of Charlemagne: It is the paladin Rinaldo chevalier at the courtyard of this sacred Charlemagne who baptized the village named "Bajardo". Pentecost Sunday is a celebration day: celebrate the feast Ra Barca in memory of the daughter of Count Rubino then Lord of the commune who would have killed his offspring so that this one could not escape with the captain of a pisan ship. This traditional feast is to put a pine tree without its branches and its crown on the village square. The latter symbolizes the large mast of a ship around which the inhabitants dance in a circle while singing a melancholic song.
