A small town in the South-Nivernais region, La Machine was marked by three centuries of coal mining until the site was closed in 1974. Today, the Mine Museum is housed in the former coalmine offices and the Glénons shaft is preserved, presenting the public with a perfect reconstruction of the work of the miners. To complete your visit, two tours offer to discover the commune with its districts and the typical installations of a former mining town. La Machine is also natural areas to discover with here the Grenetier pond, there the Nivernais canal and its cycle route, and beautiful walks in perspective!
