30 km from Brindisi and only a few minutes from the Adriatic coast, this village, now an important olive oil production centre, offers a picturesque medieval old town. Surrounded by walls dating from the Aragonese domination, it spreads its whitewashed houses on the slopes of a hill dominated by a 15th century castle. Outside the old town, some remains of the walls of the ancient Messapian Carbina can be seen, which was attacked and then destroyed by Taranto. Nearby, the nature reserve of Torre Guaceto (1,200 ha), located along the coast between Ostuni and Brindisi, is ideal for a walk.
