This village of 8,000 inhabitants still houses several colonial buildings, including the church and convent of the Virgen de la Asunción, founded in 1609. Inside the village there is a system of caves that were used by the Mayans to hide during the War of the Castes, the Grutas de Tzabnah. You will find local guides, who can take you there, in the municipal palace. Also close to Tecoh is the magnificent Sotuta de Peón hacienda, an oldhenequén hacienda that has been restored to its original state, so that visitors can understand how this type of agricultural property functioned at the end of the 19th century.
