Kabah, which has retained its original name, is mentioned in the Chilan Balam of Chuyamel. Meaning "the mighty hand", it echoes, at the entrance to the site, the sculpture of a man holding a snake in his hand. The site would have been occupied from the beginning of our era, in the ancient classical style, its peak being between the years 600 and 1000. It is characterized by its Puuc style pushed to the extreme and combined with other elements such as Petén (temple crests and stucco decorations) and Chenes (facades with zoomorphic deities). There are numerous chulunas, underground water tanks that were used to store rainwater.
