At 7 km from Valladolid, there are two cenotes: Ditznup, also called X'kekén, and Samulá. They are among the most beautiful of the peninsula. Covered, topped with stalactites, their translucent water is enhanced by a halo of natural light and a large diameter, ideal for swimming. If you're avoiding the tourists, there are other cenotes nearby, perhaps less impressive, but wilder: Saamal, inside the Selva Maya restaurant, and Xux-há, towards Cobá
