Welcome to Izegem... the city of the Poisseux! Don't worry, this nickname is in no way insulting! It simply refers to the industrial past of the town and its two great specialities: brushes and shoes. Even today, Izegem remains a major centre for brush production. For shoes, the splendour is no longer the same as in the 1950s, when Izegem produced half of the shoes of the whole country, but the museum allows you to relive this industrial success. Izegem is also a very popular town for music lovers thanks to its many festivals such as the International Music Festival.
