Bordered by high cliffs, the result of ancient volcanic activity, the beautiful Manele Bay is part of a marine reserve where fishing is prohibited. It is also home to the popular Lanai marina, Manele Harbor. This is where the shuttles and tourist boats from Maui dock and return from the same harbor (five boats a day). Despite its crystal clear waters, the heavy boat traffic rules out swimming. On the practical side, the picnic area and the toilets on the spot allow you to make a short stop, upon arrival on the island or before taking the boat back.
