Situated near the Hardt forest, Hombourg means "high castle" even though it's located on a plain. Numerous remains attest to the site's occupation by the Romans. It's a pretty village also renowned for its castles: the Hombourg estate is an original place that belonged to the great industrial families, the Koechlins and the Burrus, where the medieval flirts cheerfully with the 19th century. The medieval reinforced concrete castle, built in the 20th century, houses a farmhouse with stables. To the rear is another castle, around which a golf course has been built. Today, Hombourg is a village of over 1,300 inhabitants.
