This village in the south-east has a population of about 1,500 souls, with a gentle mixture of Malagasy, Chimaore and Chidzouani. The village is built on a slope that one descends to go to the beach. A mama-brochetti starts stoking her coal around 6pm, while a walk through the village reveals a banga that is not an invitation to marriage: "Long live the bachelor life!" Early in the morning, you may hear children chanting verses: there are several Koranic schools in the village
