The Bouéni peninsula is a magical place, especially its west coast! Before being French, but after having been Mahorese, the peninsula of Bouéni, west of the peninsula that forms the south, was for a long time a refuge during the Malagasy invasions. The road from Majiméouni follows the bay of Bouéni to Hagnoundrou, a village where archaeological excavations have attested to the oldest settlement on the island, around the year 1000. We then cross the village of Moinatrindri (literally "little banana tree"), which has been rebuilt since a landslide swept it away. Then we finally arrive at the village of Bouéni. The atmosphere on the peninsula is particularly family oriented, the troubles of Mamoudzou seem far away. The inhabitants are proud of the preservation of their customs and traditions and know how to emphasize them. The tarred road goes around the island, you can do it in one direction or the other, and why not in both because the viewpoints change according to and the landscapes are always pleasant.
