Uninhabited and deserted, the last island of the archipelago is the most rocky and takes its name from the goat herders, a traditional local activity. It is also called Capperara because it is covered with caper trees. As on the island of San Domino, it is the nature that one comes here to admire, its tangles of steep cliffs, its caves, its sea tongues and its numerous natural arches. The viewpoints are superb. The site is also appreciated by divers. Note that between the islands of San Nicola and Capraia, a bronze statue of Padre Pio, 3 m high, was immersed in 1998 at 15 m depth!
