This fishing village is invaded during the summer months by Italians who wish to enjoy its fine sandy beaches with crystal clear waters. Still little known to mass tourism, which prefers the Amalfi coast, the village is nevertheless a real gem; since 1998, it has been included in the list of the "most beautiful villages in Italy" by UNESCO. In the 18th century, the town was known as "Isca delle Chitarre", which today represents its historic centre. The town centre stretches from Corso Matarazzo, the shopping street, to Lungomare Perrotti, passing through the small port "delle Gatte".
