Although Pioppi does not have the same character as its neighbours, it is still a pleasant and nonchalant little seaside resort, where it is pleasant to stroll along the seawall or on the sandy beach. Pioppi is renowned for the quality of its waters, which are among the cleanest in Italy. It also enjoys the prestigious title of World Capital of the Mediterranean Diet because it was here that the American researcher Ancel Keys demonstrated the virtues of the Mediterranean diet, in this case cilentane, on health and in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. The village is a good place to visit the south of Cilento.
