This is a charming, secluded and unspoiled village on the western side of the Cape Peninsula. As you drive in from Scarborough, you will see the white lighthouse against the blue sky on the horizon. Baboons have taken up residence here, and you're sure to come across them on the road as they go about their business at sunset. From the top of the lighthouse, on a clear day, there is a superb view of the surrounding area and the whales when they are there, usually between July and October. Long Beach is a mecca for local surfers and kitesurfers. If you feel like it, try sandboarding.
