Moanda is 38 kilometers of sand and a sunset on the horizon every day. The mighty river has meandered for 4,700 km and, at the end of its course, empties its memory into the Atlantic. This enormous volume of water will only be completely diluted a hundred kilometers offshore. In the town, rectangular houses planted on sandy soil are often surrounded by hedges and palm trees. The old houses and lighthouse are a reminder of the days when Moanda was a popular seaside resort for families with a pied-à-terre. Moanda is also home to the superb Mangrove Marine Park.
