The prefecture of the Pool department is a small town of around 30,000 inhabitants on the edge of a main road. This is rebel territory: it was here that André Matsoua initiated his mystical movement. In more recent times, the town and all the surrounding areas were Ninja territory, as can still be seen from the few scraps of purple cloth hanging like banners beside some of the houses. The former militiamen are hardly active today, thanks in part to reintegration programs. Nevertheless, it is strongly recommended to find out more about the situation before travelling to the area.
