Located some 83 km south of Brazzaville, on the banks of the Congo River, this small village lies at the end of a tarred road in very poor condition. Only a few kilometers from the Democratic Republic of Congo, it's one of the routes used by travelers crossing the African continent. The village, like the district, is mainly inhabited by the Bakongos, part of the Bantu family. Nestled in the middle of the country's largest fruit-growing region, it lies at the heart of a steep, verdant region. It was also the birthplace of the country's second president, Alphonse Massamba-Débat.
