Lola Ya bonobo means the paradise of bonobos. This 35-hectare sanctuary founded by Claudine André today brings together some thirty bonobos, found, abandoned or injured. It is located in Lukaya near Kimwenza station, upstream of the small cecily falls. Easy access, the site is located approximately km from Kinshasa next to the «Ma Vallée» lake. The visit takes a little more than an hour depending on the activities of the animals. On the circuit, clear pedagogical explanatory panels inform the visitor. The best time to see these famous bonobos is the afternoon between 14 and 15 h when they get out of the forest to cool down. For the visitor, no restaurant on the ground but possibility to dine opposite the other side of the river under straw. Guided tours are arranged upon request. The entrance is paid. www.lolayabonobo.org
