This is the first of Župa Dubrovačka's stations, only 8 km from the Porte gate. It was once the capital of the dubrovnikoise Riviera in the 1920 s and beyond, a title lost since to Mlini. Kupari, situated on the gentle slope of Mount Gorica, offers its fine sandy beach (spread over 400 m), in the shade of palm trees, its long walk on the coast, its lavender fields and its Mediterranean salvation Vegetation. The city owes its name to the tiles (kupe) that it once produced in abundance and which covered the roofs of Dubrovnik's old town.
