This small commune nestled in a small valley is widely known for its cooperative dairy, which promotes the excellence of Normandy products beyond France's borders: butters, creams and other desserts, of course, of the highest quality. Sottevast is located some 15 km from Cherbourg, in a verdant setting watered by a small river called the Douve. For several years now, many city-dwellers have chosen to settle here and find a peaceful setting. A number of remarkable buildings stand out here, including the church of Saint-Hermeland and the chapel of Sainte-Suzanne, both of which are well worth a visit.
