It's a name known throughout France for the presence of a nuclear power plant, and even more so since the construction of the EPR, the new nuclear generator. Of course, the financial windfall has provided the town of around 1,800 inhabitants with infrastructure that would make many a mayor green with envy. But Flamanville also boasts a beautiful natural setting, beautiful cliffs, a splendid listed castle and its port, Port-Dielette. A former fishing village, the site was transformed a quarter of a century ago to become a yachting complex with several hundred berths.
