Sheltered from mass tourism, Levanto has managed to keep its medieval village feel almost intact, without being excessively damaged by the sad concreting of second homes that has plagued much of the two Riviere areas. The town is often regarded as one of the gateways to the beauties of Liguria: there are numerous sea and land connections, including easy access to the Cinque Terre. Part of Levanto's territory is part of the Cinque Terre National Park. The pleasant sandy beach is just as much a pleasure for idlers as it is for surfers!
