Lerici Castle dominates the town and port. On market days, fishermen gather here along the dyke. The area has long been a favorite stopover for Romantic artists and famous writers. It was in these waters that the English poet Percy Bysshe Shelley drowned after a shipwreck. Italian authors include Mario Soldati and Lerici-born poet Paolo Bertolani.Along the coast, small rocky coves reveal themselves to the walker, such as Fiascherino, accessible for swimming, or Tellaro, an architectural gem.
