Haiku is a small peaceful village near Hana, like the Japanese poem of the same name. Born from the cultivation of sugar cane in the 19th century, it is nowadays far from the bustle and intensive work of the Alexander & Baldwin company's plantations. With its tiny downtown, its lush vegetation, its friendly inhabitants, one feels immediately at ease. Banks, medical center and pharmacies are all located in Haiku's only shopping center, the Haiku Marketplace. To feel cut off from the world, sleeping in Haiku is a good choice. Except for the mosquitoes, no one will wake you up. No party people.
