Administrative capital of Maui County, Wailuku is not really a tourist town, but its various historical sites and the old store fronts give it a certain cachet, between archaism and modernity. On the other hand, in the evening, it is the total depression, the city is deserted and we meet mostly junkies and homeless people... Most of the people who stay there are the customers of the Banana Bungalow and the Northshore Hostel, the two small budget options of the island. The advantage is that you can eat there for cheap and it's ono ("delicious" in Hawaiian). You have to go to North Main Street or Market Street.
