Travel Guide Los Elenes

After Guano, the road crosses a magnificent bucolic landscape, cows and sheep graze quietly while the peasants collect straw or weave cabuya, a vegetable fiber from which they make the traditional shigras, these flexible baskets which are carried suspended on the shoulder. The road ends a few kilometres further on at the Los Elenes bathing complex (a kind of water park). Its three thermal pools, supposed to cure skin diseases and rheumatism, attract the inhabitants of Riobamba on weekends. There are few accommodation solutions here, better to continue a little further to Alausi for example.
