14 km north of Zumbahua. The winding road that leads to the lagoon is beautiful, bordered by green valleys. The bright colors of the native clothes contrast with the green gray of the landscape. The Indian Andes as we imagine them... The climate is often cool or even cold in the village of Quilotoa (4 000 m), especially from February to the end of April, so think about warm clothes. Once you get up there, a breathtaking landscape awaits you. The enormous crater has a lagoon at its heart, sometimes blue, sometimes green. Depending on the light and the reflections of the sun, the spectacle is unique. The more adventurous can descend to the bottom of the crater to admire its grandeur even more (and possibly dip their feet in). After a possible canoe ride on the water or a night under the stars (camping is allowed near the lagoon), you have to go back up to the summit. This is a much more strenuous walk than the first one. For the less courageous, mules can be hired.
