6 km before Ibarra, the road crosses the village of San Antonio de Ibarra, which has become famous for its woodcarving workshops and, to a lesser extent, stone carving. Workshops and shops follow one another along the streets of the village. You can find very beautiful religious statuettes and also domestic utensils (salad bowls, trays, bowls...). The Daniel Reyes Institute of Plastic Arts trains many painters and sculptors here. San Antonio de Ibarra is one of the high places of the Ecuadorian craft industry and an interesting stage to bring back some beautiful memories of the country. Many buses shuttle between San Antonio and Ibarra.
