Twenty kilometers north of Quito, at an altitude of 2,483 m, beyond the new affluent suburbs of the capital and the villages of San Antonio and Pomasqui, the road leads to the Mitad del Mundo, literally "half the world". This is where the equinoctial line separating our planet into two hemispheres, North and South, is marked. It is one of the most popular excursions near the capital, as there are various museums and activity parks based on the theme of the equator. Recently, there is a very interesting museum dedicated to the production of miske, alcohol from the agave plant, which is omnipresent here.
