The Cuicocha lagoon occupies one of the craters of the Cotacachi volcano at an altitude of more than 3,000 meters. You can take a motorboat ride (25 minutes) and land on one of its three islets, or walk around the lake (12 km) in 4 to 5 hours depending on your physical condition. The ridge path is marked out; a midway point allows you to make a welcome stop at this altitude. Remember to take water and snacks for your hike as there are no water fountains or food stands along the way. Possibility to spend the night at the Hostería Laguna Cuicocha.
