The village of Broadford stretches along its wide bay, looking out over the surrounding islets and the distant Applecross. Because it is quite spread out and disparate, one can regret its lack of real center and a less authentic charm than in Portree. However, the main reason for coming to Skye is nature, and it is never far away here, with Strathaird within easy reach and the Cuillin Mountains a short distance away. As for amenities, the island's central supermarket and a petrol station make it a useful stopover before a stay in remote and peaceful corners of the island.
