Uig is not the most picturesque village on the island, but the Trotternish Peninsula on which it sits is a constant wonder. It is very busy in the summer, which can create major traffic jams. Its location makes it a good base for exploration and it is also a departure point for the Outer Hebrides by ferry. From here, you can explore Fairy Glen with its magnificent double waterfall, deep glen and conical hills. The ruins of a castle can also be seen. Although the Skye Brewery is not open to the public, its store is (www.skyeale.com).
