Tiree is the westernmost island of the Inner Hebrides. More populated than its neighbour Coll, it was home to as many as 4,500 farmers to support its prolific agriculture, but many left for America in the 19th century. Green, it is very flat compared to the rest of Scotland and has more sunshine than most of the UK, thanks to the gulf stream from which it benefits greatly. The wind is very present there, which has the advantage of keeping the midges away and the surfers happy. Don't miss its sandy coastline with crystal clear waters around Gott Bay, Hynish Bay, Vaul Bay, Balephetrish Bay, Balephuil Bay and Hough Bay.
