The Isle of Skye, 80 km long, is the largest of the Inner Hebrides. Today, 35% of its population is made up of immigrants, most of whom are English. Its largest town is Portree (2 500 inhabitants). In the north, Dunvegan, Edinbane, Uig and Staffin are among the main villages. In the south, they are Broadford, Armadale, Carbost, Elgol and Kyleakin. The castles of the MacDonald and MacLeod clans are a must-see.
