The 80 km long Isle of Skye is the largest of the Inland Hebrides Islands. Today, it is home to 35% of emigrants, most of them English. Its largest city is Portree (2,500 inhabitants). In the north, Dunvegan, Edinbane, Uig and Staffin are among the main villages. For the south, they are those of Broadford, Armadale, Carbost, Elgol and Kyleakin. The castles of the MacDonald and MacLeod clans are a must visit.
