Dornie is located on the eastern shore of the Loch Long, just before it is photocopied by the bridge of the Highway A 87 and that it forms Loch Alsh by meeting with Loch Duich. Just south of the village, close to the coastline, Eilean Donan's small island is accessible by a bridge and dominated by a strong castle which is one of the most important tourist sites in the region.
