The scent of white and pink citrus flowers greets your arrival in Rodi. This seaside village, typical of the Gargano, is literally embedded in the rock, from where it looks out to sea. A former Cretan, Greek and Rhodian colony, Rodi was later the stronghold of several lords, including the powerful Caraffa, Caracciolo and San Felice. Of this brilliant past, the city has not kept any evidence. However, you can visit the remains of the town wall and the church of St. Peter, where two interesting 16th century statues are preserved. The largest and most frequented beach is located at the eastern exit towards Peschici (and becomes, further on, more quiet).
