Small pearl in the middle of the lake of Skadar. Nicknamed the "Montenegrin Alcatraz", this rocky islet preserves the remains of Turkish fortifications transformed in the 19th century into a prison by King Nicholas I. It is said that the latter only sent non-swimmers there; from time immemorial, the sovereigns and rulers sent political opponents there. Consisting of a small chapel and a fortress that surrounds the entire island, one has the impression of being, on the lake water, outside of time and far from the world. An experience to be had, if only for a few hours, by kindly asking your guide to accompany you.
