It is still the starting point for the annual pilgrimage through strikes. Genêts is linked to Mont Saint-Michel, since the Low Middle Ages. In 700, Aubert Bishop of Avranches donated the city to the Mount Abbey. The lords of Genêts are both barons and abbots while enjoying many advantages. In the th century pilgrimages to the Mount, mainly grouped over Genêts, were the origin of the city's important development. Wars of religion don't discourage pilgrims. It was only in the th century that the decline was marked and where Genêts lost its privileges. The church, renovated at the beginning of the th century by Robert de Thorigny, abbot of Mont Saint-Michel, and its cemetery are classified as historic monument. It contains a polychrome wooden statue of Saint Aubert, a native of Gênets, and of course a founder on the rock of the Abbey Falls. Today, this village to small old houses of fishermen, somewhat forgotten, deserves your visit.
